Islamabad: Former Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Quershi said on Wednesday that he was told by the foreign ministry that Raymond Davis was not entitled to blanket immunity.
He said that he was asked by his party (PPP) to keep mum over Davis issue as it was sub judice and that the court would decide the case.
He said issue of Raymond Davis had become matter of dignity and prestige for the nation.
Addressing a press conference after a meeting with US Senator John Kerry he said that the US should keep in mind sacrifices of Pakistan, adding that both the countries need each other.
Qureshi said that the meeting was arranged on the request of Kerry.
He said that he had issued two instructions to the foreign secretary to follow the law and dig out the facts as Davis had shot dead two Pakistanis in Lahore .
The former foreign minister said that some PPP leaders were accusing of having close relations with former military ruler Pervez Musharraf . Her said that if he had had enjoyed such relations with Musharraf he would not have refused to receive him at the Multan airport when he was district Nazim of the city. “I refused to issue funds for Musharraf’s referendum,” he added.
He said that he would produce himself before the party for accountability, adding that he sided with late Benazir Bhutto when he was asked to join Musharraf.
