Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday directed the Federal Investigation Agency(FIA) to take measures for the arrest of former federal minister for religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi while a civil court issued his arrest warrants in haj corruption case.
The FIA told the court that a special team had been formed to obtain arrest warrant of the ex-minister.
The secretary religious ministry informed the court that 750 riyals have been paid to each affected pilgrim in light of SC orders.
The bench showed its satisfaction over the reimbursement of money to the affected pilgrims.
The CJ said that why Zain Sukhera was appointed in the ministry as he did not possess LLM degree.
The FIA contended that the secretary religious affairs had appointed him after amending rules and regulations.
The CJ directed the FIA to question Abdul Gilani, son of Prime Minster Yousuf Raza Gilani, regarding the Haj scam.
The seven-member special bench of SC headed by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Justice Raja Fayyaz Ahmed, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman Ramday was hearing the suo motu case of Haj scam.
