Willington: New Zealand captain Denial vettorion on Wednesday resigned from captaincy of test team.
After loosing Test series against Pakistan, he confirmed that he would be stepping down from the Test team after Cricket World Cup.
However, he said that he will be playing for New Zealand as a player.
Vettori has captained the side in 32 Tests since he took over from Stephen Fleming in 2007.
Under his captaincy New Zealand won only six Tests in three years, with four of those wins coming against Bangladesh. They have lost 18 tests and drawn thirteen, with nine series losses out of thirteen.
