Islamabad: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Wednesday directed Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Salman Siddique that the elements involved in the Nato container case corruption be handcuffed and embezzled money be recovered from them.
A three-member bench of the SC, headed by CJ, heard the Nato container case.
A report of the federal ombudsman was produced before the court, stating the national exchequer was inflicted a loss of Rs71 billion by tax evading and releasing containers without paying due duties and taxes.
Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday remarked that all the facts have been surfaced like who was involved in the scam and whose names were used in booking the containers.
The court observed that the ombudsman has suggested action against the elements.
later, the court instructed the counsel to identify the FBR members who were involved in the corruption.The hearing was adjourned till Jan 27.
