London: Rail Maritime and Transport (RTM) union has announced to hold strike over the sacking of two colleagues on the Bakerloo and Northern lines.
RMT union members will hold strike for 24 hours from Friday evening.
Bob Crow, the RMT leader, said that his colleagues were sacked due to the activities of their trade union.
However, the chief operating officer of London Underground, Howard Collins, said the sackings were not because of job cuts and the real reasons were that those fired had a “serious breach of safety rules” and “unacceptable and abusive behaviour towards colleagues.”
“For the RMT leadership to try to disrupt Londoners in this way shows a complete disregard for tube passengers and utter contempt for their own ballot process,” said Collins.
He said, “If the strike goes ahead, we will once again seek to operate the best service possible.”
There was another strike last month over the same issue of job cuts. It is assumed that the London tube staff will not stop fighting for their rights.
