VATICAN CITY: Pop Benedict demanded Government of Pakistan to overprotect Christians and let them live according to their religious doctrines without any discrimination.
He said that Pakistan should reject blasphemy law which, according to him, is being used against Christian minority.
The sentence for blasphemy law is death in Pakistan and the law is recently controversial because a court of district Nankana sentenced capital punishment to a woman, Aasia to whom Taseer, Governor of Punjab, met and released a statement about blasphemy law and was assassinated by his gunman last week.
Stating to the recent attacks on Christians in Nigeria, Iraq and Egypt, the pop demanded the governments concerned that protection for Christians in their countries should be ensured. He lamented over the violence against Christians and said that these acts indicated towards intolerance.
He said Christian community as well as those who raise voices for the rights should be protected.
