Ansar Abbasi, the top Pakistani journalist, has said there is no rule of law in the country because none of those governing the country obey laws.
He was speaking in a local television talk show on the murder of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer.
“How can you expect people to obey laws when the governor of a province does not accept a law and a court judgment!“
He said liberal fascist elements in the country did not accept Quran or Hadith. “They don’t even accept the constitution which was given by liberal people just because it says that all laws will be made according to Quran and Sunnah.”
He said currently 10 million people drank wine, but these liberal fascists wanted every Pakistani to drink.
Haroonur Rashid, a prominent columnist, said the Pakistani nation was united by their love of their Prophet (peace be upon him). “There can be no compromise in this matter. Whatever light is there in my life is because of the Prophet (peace be upon him).”
Nazir Naji, a senior journalist, said those who were now praising the killer of Taseer should have gone to court to seek action against the assassinated governor for speaking against the blasphemy law. “On the one hand they defend the blasphemy law, but on the other they don’t use it and issue fatwas for the extra judicial murder of people they point out.”
Hamid Mir, the show host, said during the debate that their channel had created a page on Facebook about the murder and that most of those who commented justified the murder.
Dr Fauzia Saeed, a social activist, said the people should show tolerance and win hearts by being good human beings. She said there were many things which offended her, but she did not kill any one.
