Islamabad: Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in probing into the Hajj scam.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary heard the Hajj corruption case.
During the hearing, the CJ asked the concerned authorities to give compensation money to the affected pilgrims of five blocks (Maktab) in Saudi Arabi within a week.
Justice Chaudhry in his remarks during the hearing observed that DG FIA could not investigate the matter properly and he should handover the case to other government functionaries, otherwise the court would issue order in this regard.
The court was stunned when it was told that statement of Interior Minister Rehman Malik had not been recorded by FIA regarding the case.
The apex court directed the authorities concerned to give compensation money to the Hajis within a week.
Counsel of Religious Affairs’ Ministry Sardar Latif Khosa submitted before the court that the two ministers were removed on court’s orders. However, now a party of the case was demanding removal of the Prime Minister, he added.
