KARACHI: An activist of Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was shot dead on Monday evening.
Some unknown attackers gunned down Aadil Jaffery, a joint sector in charge of the MQM, in Gulbahar area of Nazimabad. Tension soon gripped the area and routine life was disturbed. Many markets were closed early as the result of tension.
One rickshaw and two buses were torched in Nazimabad and Gulistan-e-Johar while a hotel was set ablaze near Habib Bank Chowrangi in Site area. Unknown culprits also burnt road carts of many vendors near University of Karachi.
Police and rangers officials rushed to the affected areas of the city and increased patrolling and snap checking.
Six other people were killed in different areas earlier in the day.
