PESHAWAR: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has announced to support public organised protests across the province to get proper amount of electricity from federal quota.
CM KPK Khattak warned the federal government to take serious step for elimination of load shedding in KPK province otherwise public will organise strong protests and they know how to get their rights.
While talking in a combined press conference with coalition political parties, Pervez Khattak has demanded the federal government to provide provincial share of electricity profits.
Khattak clarified that provincial government is not responsible for activities of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) but the federal government of Pakistan.
He added that federal government is authorise to plan the electricity distribution through WAPDA to all provinces across Pakistan.
During the press conference, the CM KPK expressed anger over Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) chief for misguiding the people as they owned different stances while talking to officials and public.
KPK Finance Minister Siraj-ul-Haq was also present in the press conference organised for highlighting the issue of unscheduled load shedding in the province.
On the event, Siraj-ul-Haq claimed that KPK province have ability to produce 25000 mega watts of electricity through different dam projects if federal government provide appropriate funds rather than wasting time and funds on controversial dam projects.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) belonged Siraj-ul-Haq said that KPK residential are conflicting with life and death as furious consequences due to heavy load shedding.
Siraj-ul-Haq has ensured the public infront of media that KPK government could eliminate electricity shortage within 3 years but seriousness of federal government is essential in this regards.
Sikandar Sherpao said that federal government should take further steps to vanish load shedding at least on Sehr and Aftar timing during the Holy Ramadan month.
He said that removing WAPDA chairman from the post is inadequate but to ensure the proper functionality and distribution of the department.
