Karachi: The Pakistani police official on Wednesday confirmed the claims by some of the media outlets that the prime suspect of Shahzeb Khan’s murder case, Shahrukh Jatoi, has escaped from Pakistan in an illegal way.
Talking to media, DIG South Shahid Hayat said that although Shahrukh Jatoi, was been able to flee away from Pakistan but the authorities had contacted Australian High Commission for his return.
Shahzeb was killed allegedly by Shahrukh Jatoi near Mubarak Masjid in DHA on Tuesday night. The killing resulted from a small argument he had with Nawab Siraj Talpur, when the latter’s servant verbally harassed his sister.
Talpur and his friend, Jatoi, allegedly followed Shahzeb and shot him.
“An Investigation team will be dispatched to interrogate the father of Shahrukh and found out that through which mean he crossed the border and travelled to Australia,” the police official said.
He further assured that the police would also contact Interpol in order to arrest the culprit. Another suspect, Siraj Talpur, is in the country and the authorities will soon arrest him, he added.
A day earlier the same police official however, refuted the claims for suspects had crossed the border and said that they were still present in the country and the law enforcement authorities have raided several hideouts in interior Sindh.
On Tuesday, Hayat said that “although the culprits belonged to a powerful feudal family from Sindh but the police was making a positive headway in the case”.
The police on Tuesday arrested the family manager of main culprit, Shahrukh Jatoi, near Supreme Court Registry in Karachi. The security guard of Jatoi was also arrested on Monday and moved to an undisclosed location for further interrogation;Â however, the police said that a case had not been registered against him yet.
