Islamabad: Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Admiral (retd) Faseeh Bukhari has said that he ‘will not resign’ and if the government wants to sack him, they should do it anyway’.
He said that he had been facing severe criticism for over a year and but didn’t respond to the critics. He said he thought “he would do something concrete and then speak up to them”.
He said that the new mechanism to shun corruption has been in place for one year now, terming the menace the biggest problem facing Pakistan. He said that he made efforts to curb corruption where it is happening, adding that there is a need to focus on issues while working on them on the provincial level.
Faseeh revealed that he hardly received 250 billion rupees in a span of 12 years, adding that political pressure and irregularities help flourish corruption.
Speaking about NAB, he said it has two ways to deal with these issues; one is to jail the suspects and second is to try them in courts. He observed that to find evidence in the ‘while collar crimes’ is very difficult.
