Islamabad: The Supreme of Pakistan has observed that the apex court fully respects the parliament and termed the news in media regarding SC’s remarks as incorrect.
A nine-judge bench of the apex court was hearing the memogate case headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. The CJ said the court had said nothing about the parliament and impeachment of the president.
Hussain Haqqani’s counsel Asma Jehnagir continued her arguments:
The CJ said that the court directed the parties in the memo case to complete their arguments today.
Mrs Jehangir said she would try to conclude her argument. She contended that the memo was written by an American to the Americans and it had nothing to with either her client or any Pakistani.
Jehangir also read content of the memo regarding the “Security Team”. She said that the security team didn’t preserve Pakistan ideology rather it was bound to protect American ideology.
On this, the CJ remarked the court didn’t want to say anything about the security team, as the respondents would themselves say anything about it.
However, the chief justice Chaudhry said that all the respondents, including Mr Haqqani has requested for an complete inquiry into the matter.
