India Supplying Israel with Weapons Amid Genocide in Gaza

New Delhi: India has reportedly provided Israel with advanced military equipment, including Hermes 900 drones, rockets, and explosives amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza, according to a report by Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper and documents obtained by Al Jazeera.

Documents obtained by Al Jazeera and company statements indicate that New Delhi has supplied Israel with various weaponry, including rockets and explosives, manufactured in Hyderabad.

The Hermes 900 drones, produced by a factory in Hyderabad—a joint venture between Israeli defense company Elbit Systems and Indian billionaire Gautam Adani’s consortium—were initially intended for the Indian military. However, due to a shortage created during the war in February, 20 drones were converted specifically for use by the Israeli army.

This factory is the first outside of Israel to produce these advanced drones, highlighting the deepening defense cooperation between the two nations. The decision to redirect these drones to Israel was likely made with the approval of India’s highest officials, underscoring the strategic partnership between the countries.

The Yedioth Ahronoth report also mentions that India has supplied Israel with artillery shells and other weapons since the beginning of the conflict. This strategic partnership has proven highly beneficial for Israel, bolstering its military capabilities during the ongoing war.

On June 6, the Quds News Network released a video showing the aftermath of an Israeli bombing at a United Nations shelter in the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza. Amid the debris, a label on the missile remains was clearly visible, reading: “Made in India.”

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the Indian company Premier Explosives Limited manufactures solid propellants, a critical component of the rocket motors for MRSAM and LRSAM missiles, known as Barak medium and long-range surface-to-air missiles of Israeli design.

During a March 31 conference call, Premier Explosives’ executive director, T Chowdary, admitted to exporting these components to Israel amid the current conflict in Gaza. “We have received the pending revenue from the Israel export order, and this has shown an exponential jump in the revenue of the quarter,” Chowdary informed investors, noting the company’s highest-ever quarterly revenue.

Since the start of the Israeli war on Gaza on October 7, Israel has systematically used drones in its war killing 37,658 Palestinians in Gaza, predominantly women and children, and wounding at least 86,237 others. The death toll includes over 16,000 children, leaving 17,000 orphaned.

Since October, Israeli strikes on Lebanon have killed over 400 people.
