Islamabad: Pakistan and Poland on Monday agreed to enhance bilateral, defence and trade ties between both the countries while it was decided to celebrate 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
According to a Joint Statement issued by the Foreign Office, following the meeting between Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar and her Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski.
The statement said that European Union would support greater market access for Pakistan, including the commitment to Pakistan’s eligibility to the EU’s future scheme of Generalized System of preferences.
It was reaffirmed that EU would committed to building a strong long-term partnership with Pakistan, and appreciating the significant contributions being made by Pakistan in promoting global and regional peace, security and stability.
The EU welcomed the resumption of dialogue between Pakistan and India while it was also expressed that both countries would work for stable and peaceful Afghanistan.
Both sides agreed to commemorate 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Poland, coming up in 2012, in a befitting manner through a mutually agreed calendar of cultural events.
The polish foreign minister invited Hina Rabbani Khar to visit Poland which she accepted.
