MIRPUR KHAS: Aimed at producing 660 MegaWatt coal power, Thar Coal Power Project has finally been launched jointly by political rivals, Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, at Mirpur Khas.
Both Prime Minister and former President laid the foundation of Rs. 1.6 billion power generation project, which will use coal extracted from Thar coal reserves.
According to official notes, the project will be completed by 2017 with 660MW of electricity.
The PM reached Sindh’s Mirpur Khas city to launch the project along with Chief Minister of Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik and federal ministers.
Political rival Asif Ali Zardari along with Sindh Chief Minsiter Qaim Ali Shah were at Sindhri Airport to receive the premier.
