ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Friday that Gwadar can be awarded the special status like the Hong Kong as it has a potential to be declared as a free port.
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif claimed that Gwadar to Kashgar economic corridor will benefit 3 billion people of the region.
During the briefing session in Islamabad, PM Sharif said that significant importance of the corridor cannot be forbidden as it will bring progress, prosperity to Pakistan and generate several opportunities of employment.
He said that this corridor will additionally provide an opportunity for enhancement of trade process by saving precious time‚ reducing transportation cost and freight charges via Gwadar port.
Nawaz Sharif reiterated that more than 3 billion people belonging to the Asia region will be benefitted as result of Gwadar-Kashgar corridor while it will become profitable for other provinces as well including Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa‚ Gilgit-Baltistan, Sindh and Punjab.
The Prime Minister said that Gwadar port has the potential to make it free port. He said that a special status like the Hong Kong can be awarded to Gwadar.
While commenting on declining security situation, PM urged elimination of extremism and terrorism throughout the country for continuation of peace and progress.
Moreover, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that China has shown its interest in establishment of underground railways in two major cities of Pakistan including Karachi and Lahore.
