WASHINGTON: American giant Apple is gearing up to launch its first device of the year, a new report claims that company will launch iOS 7 Gold Master in September.
According to report, Apple is expected to release iOS 7 Gold Master (GM) early next month on Sept. 5, just a few days before the company’s scheduled event.
Apple announced its upcoming mobile operating system iOS 7, at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10 this year.
The company also has an event planned for Sept. 10 where the much-awaited iPhone 5S and budget iPhone 5C are expected to make their appearance. The iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C will be the first devices to get iOS 7.
“We can now confirm that the final beta software release for developers will take place next week. Our sources have not confirmed which day, though Monday makes the most sense as it has been the typical release day in the past. After iOS 7 beta 6, Apple will be seeding a GM (gold master) version for its employees and partners to test starting around September 5th. This will mostly likely be the software that is released to the public later on in the month of September, barring any major bugs or problems that might be discovered,” reports BGR.
Apple fans are eagerly waiting for the company to roll out iOS 7 to their existing iDevices such as iPhone, iPods and others. Assuming that Apple launches its new iPhones on Sept. 10, the company may start releasing iOS 7 to older iPhones in late September to early October.
The first-half of the 2013 has been dominated with the release of Android and Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphones. Some more Android and WP8 devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, HTC Max, a Nokia Windows RT tablet and more are also due to launch in September.
However, Apple will hit back with the launch of iPhones in September followed by the launch of iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2 in soon after.
