KARACHI: At least 3 persons died including President’s chief security officer Bilal Sheikh and 7 persons were injured in a powerful explosion on Wednesday in Gurumandir area of Karachi, the metropolitan of Pakistan.
According to initial report, the attack was carried out on Bilal Sheikh, chief security officer of President Asif Ali Zardari, near Jamshad quarters situated in densely populated Gurumandir area of Karachi.
Bilal Sheikh was targeted by bomb attack when he was moving in his car from Gurumandir area when the blast occurred suddenly which killed him along with two security guards.
Sources closer to Bilal Sheikh said that the deceased uses unusual route of Gurumandir today.
According to hospital sources, Bilal Sheikh has lost his live due to severe injuries caused by the bomb attack while 6 injured are in critical condition.
SSP Jamshed Town said that the bomb was planted in the Bilal Sheikh’s car while the car number is (AJKF-7830).
Rescue teams have reached the location and busy in shifting the injured ones to the Civil Hospital but facing difficulty due to mob of traffic.
Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials have reached the incident site and investigated the genre and further details of the attack and stated it as suicide bomb attack while further details will be issued soon.
Heavy contingents of security forces including Police and Rangers have been deployed who cordoned off the whole area.
