Karachi: At least seven people have been injured after an explosive material went off near the election offices of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Burns Road area of Karachi, a metropolitan of Pakistan.
According to The News Tribe correspondent, local sources told media that the blast occurred near the MQM sector office and JI unit office in Burns road area injured seven.
The injured have been shifted to the Civil Hospital of the city.
Police and Rangers have cordoned off the area and started evacuating people over danger of second explosion, as it had happened in the past that successive blasts occur at same point causing more casualties in the second explosion.
Meanwhile, Police official told to media that Bab-ul-Islam mosque was the target of blast.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) preddy Zameer Abbasi told the media that time device with 2-3kg explosive has been used in the blast.
MQM leader Farooq Sattar has said that the terrorists want to sabotage MQM’s election campaign.
MQM Information wing has said that the blast occurred outside the party sector office. It was the fifth blast near the MQM offices in last 10 days.
Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain has condemned the incident.
Mr Hussain said that the militants wanted to create instability in the country by violence, bloodshed and terrorism. They were also working on a conspiracy to sabotage the peace and order before elections for depriving the MQM of their democratic and constitutional rights.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain has also said that liberal and enlightened forces would not let retrogressive forces impose their brand of Sharia on the nation.
