Tank: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan, after being disallowed by the authorities from entering South Waziristan, has demanded the government to stop drone strikes in the tribal region.
Addressing a public meeting in “Jahazi Ground” in Tank instead of KotKai, Khan said that the PTI would clean-sweep the next election, adding that his party would bring big changes in the tribal region and provide employment to the people of the region.
He said that they had successfully raised the voice of tribal people in the world.
The convoy entered Tank and was en route but was stopped near Manjhikhel check-post on Tank Road. The participants of the march removed the containers on their own as the convoy proceeded ahead towards its destination.
The PTI chairman said that they had ended their march at Tank because the travelling could be dangerous in the agency in darkness.
He thanked to foreign activists and the PTI’s youth for participating in the march.
The participants of the “peace march” left for South Waziristan from Hathala camp in Dera Ismail Khan District of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in morning after an overnight stay in D.I. Khan.
Several British and US activists were also along with Khan in the march.
“PTI is not scared of anyone. The government tried to make this march unsuccessful but we are determined to bring peace to the country,” Khan said, addressing the convoy in Mianwali on Saturday.
Peace campaigners condemn the strikes as a violation of international law, Pakistanis as a violation of sovereignty that breeds extremism, and politicians including Khan as a sign of a government complicit in killing its own people.
