Islamabad: Turkish Prime Minister was accorded warm welcome as he arrived at the Parliament House along with his wife to address the joint sitting of the Senate and National Assembly.
After recitation of Holy Quran the National Assembly Speaker in her welcome address Fehmida Mirza applauded the visionary leader for his efforts for holding trilateral talks of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkey.
She also appreciated the Turkish dignitary for the assistance which Turkey extended to Pakistani people during devastating floods.
In his address Erdogan expressed sorrow over the Siachen tragedy and plane crash near Islamabad.
He thanked the Pakistani for providing him opportunity to address the parliament for the second time.
Erdogan pledged that Turkey would continue its regional peace and stability. The Turkish minister said that parliament was also in needs of reforms.
He noted that it was the opposition’s main aim was to keep the government on right path. Erdogan said positive criticism always had a significance .
The Turkish minister expressed the hope that Pakistani Parliament would further strengthen it.” I am proud of addressing the Pakistani parliament”
He said Pakistan and Turkey were powerful nations. He bemoaned the unrest in Syria and other Muslim countries. He said had the Muslim world been strengthened, there would have been different situation. The prime minister ended his speech with the slogan of Pak-Turk friend ship Zidabad.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Opposition leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan made the speeches follwing Erdogan’s address and thanked the visiting dignitaries.
