Islamabad: Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has said that media campaign against Pakistan Army and its affiliated institutions cause demoralization within these institutions.
“Pak Army and its institutions are an asset of the country and weakening such asset is an “unwise” thing to pursue,” military chief said while talking with editors and senior journalists.
Mr. Kayani was surrounded by media during farewell dinner to Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman at Prime Minister House.
“You will never see media of United States pointing out military operations or coffins of killed US soldiers on their return to homeland,” General Kayani said.
“Criticism is inevitable but it should have balance as unnecessary criticism may be causing demoralization in military ranks.”
On the occasion, he was bombarded with questions about Balochistan, the restive province of the country.
He denied any presence of military in Balochistan.
“Frontier Constabulary is there on requisition of Chief Minister of the province as performance of provincial police is not so effective.”
“We have already stopped projects of establishing military bases in Kohlo and Sui after they were objected.”
General Kayani counted a number of initiative taken both by military and Pakistan government to uplift the mountainous province within last few years.
“Technical College has been set up in Balochistan where student are getting quality education,” he said.
