Nine out of Ten Palestinians Displaced in Gaza Since October: UN Report

Geneva: An international report has revealed that as a result of Israeli bombings, nine out of ten Palestinians in Gaza have been rendered displaced.

According to international news agencies, Andrea De Domenico, head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), stated that based on data, over 1.9 million Palestinians have been displaced in Gaza since the war imposed on the besieged strip began on October 7th. Gaza, with a population of 2.3 million has witnessed widespread displacement due to Israel’s brutal bombings during this period, of these, 110,000 have fled Gaza, while over 38,000 have been killed.

The UN’s aid distribution plan is based on serving 2.1 million people, all of whom are in need of assistance.

Andrea De Domenico said that in the wake of the devastating destruction caused by intense Israeli ground and air strikes, a large number of Gazans returned to their rubble-strewn homes. However, recurrent bombings by Israel forced them to become homeless again.

The international agency’s head further informed the media that many Palestinians, seeing their lives being destroyed in Gaza, were forced to migrate towards Rafah. However, the occupying Israeli forces began targeting Rafah as well, causing the displaced Palestinians to migrate once again.

Highlighting the ongoing dangers in Gaza, De Domenico noted that even so-called “safe zones” have not been spared from attacks. He reported that 247 UN colleagues have been killed, many while on duty or at home with their families.

Andrea De Domenico noted that Palestinians are being uprooted from everywhere, and each time they have to relocate, they start a new life, which is subsequently destroyed by the Israeli military.

Addressing the global community, he stated that Palestinian women, children, the elderly, and the youth are both fearful and sorrowful. They had dreams and hopes, but it is with great regret that he has to say that the dreams and hopes of these displaced people are dying.

The global agency head called for a ceasefire from both sides and urged the international leadership to seek a permanent solution for Gaza.
