Heatwave Expected in Punjab and Sindh from Today Until May 27

Karachi: A heatwave is expected in most parts of the country, particularly in Punjab and Sindh, from today until May 27.

In many cities of Sindh and Punjab, daytime temperatures are expected to be 3 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal from today until May 23, and from May 23 to May 27, temperatures are expected to rise by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius.

According to the Meteorological Department, daytime temperatures in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan will remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal from today until May 27.

The increase in temperature raises the risk of glacial lake outburst floods and flash floods. Experts have advised the public to remain cautious and take precautionary measures to avoid heat stroke.

The Ministry of Health has issued guidelines advising the public to avoid going outside and engaging in strenuous physical activities during the hottest part of the day. The relevant authorities are instructed to establish emergency heatwave response centers in their respective units.
