PM Sharif to Meet Chief Justice Faez Isa at 2 PM Today

Islamabad: The Minister of Law has stated that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will meet Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Faez Isa in the Supreme Court today at 2 PM.

Confirming the meeting, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said that discussions will be held regarding the letters received from six judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).

On Tuesday, six judges of the Lahore High Court wrote a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council, alleging interference by the country’s intelligence agencies in judicial matters.

The Supreme Judicial Council includes Chief Justice Isa, Supreme Court judges Mansoor Ali Shah and Munib Akhtar, IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq, and Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Khan.

The IHC judges emphasized in their letter to the SJC that efforts are being made to coerce them through abduction and violence against their relatives, as well as clandestine surveillance of their residences.

According to the Minister of Law, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will be accompanied by Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman Awan, and he himself will also be present. Tarar mentioned that the meeting was scheduled for 2 PM today.
