Bad News for Gas Consumers as Govt. Abolishes Gas Subsidies and Slabs

Islamabad: The government, while imposing a major blow on gas consumers, has abolished subsidies and slabs in gas rates, setting a uniform rate.

A decision has been made to charge a uniform rate for consuming one unit of gas or thousands.

According to sources, apart from taxes, a bill of Rs. 4,501 will be incurred for using 1 MMBTU, charges will be for consumers in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad.

Subsidies will also be abolished for various categories of consumers, including domestic, commercial, general industry, and export-oriented ones. Prices will be uniform for all.

It is said that the approval of gas prices will apply to this decision.
