Karachi: The players of Islamabad United, the winner of the PSL 9 against the finalist Multan Sultans, celebrated victory by waving the Palestinian flag to express solidarity.
According to a details, Islamabad United’s players were celebrating their success after defeating Multan Sultans in the final of the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League. During this time, the players waved the flag of Palestine while circling the ground.
The players of Islamabad United celebrating the victory expressed a message of solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians who have been victims of Israeli attacks. Cheers in support of Palestinians echoed in the National Stadium Karachi on this occasion.
The final match of the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League was played at the National Stadium Karachi, where Islamabad United defeated Multan Sultans in a thrilling contest to claim the trophy for the third time. Multan Sultans were defeated by 2 wickets in the final.
Islamabad United achieved the target of 160 runs given by Multan Sultans on the last ball of the last over, with 8 of their players being out.
Before the match, Multan Sultans’ captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to bat, with the team scoring 159 runs in 20 overs, losing 9 wickets.
Osman Khan scored 57, Iftekhar Ahmed scored 32, and Mohammad Rizwan scored 26 runs for Multan Sultans. Additionally, Khushdil Shah scored 11 runs, Yasir Khan, David Willey, and Osama Mir scored 6 runs each, Johnson Charles scored 4 runs, and Abbas Afridi scored 1 run before being out. Mohammad Ali, coming in at number nine for batting, remained not out without scoring any runs.
Imad Wasim from Islamabad United took 5 wickets of Multan Sultans’ players, while Shadab Khan also took 5 wickets.
It should be noted that Islamabad United has previously won the Pakistan Super League final in 2016 and 2018, securing the trophy.
