Washington: After Vladimir Putin’s fifth-term election as the President of Russia, America, Britain, Ukraine, and other Western countries have refused to accept the election results, considering them unfair.
According to international news agencies, in the presidential elections held in Russia, President Vladimir Putin has been elected as the President of Russia for the fifth time with 87% of the votes.
Following the announcement of the results, in a statement a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council said that these elections were not clearly free or fair because Vladimir Putin has imprisoned political opponents and prevented others from running against him.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the history bears witness, and the world knows that this person (Putin) is only obsessed with power and is taking every step to obtain government and control forever. He said that there is no justification for this electoral fraud, and there cannot be any, a case should be filed against this person in The Hague.
The German Foreign Ministry wrote on Twitter that the elections in Russia lacked freedom and fairness, and the result of such elections is not surprising to anyone.
The statement said that Putin’s leadership is authoritarian, as it relies on on censorship, coercion, and violence. Holding elections in the occupied territories of Ukraine is a violation of international law, making it impossible for citizens to vote freely and democratically.
British Foreign Minister David Cameron said in a post on Twitter that Russian elections do not appear to be free and fair.
Poland’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that there were illegitimate presidential elections in Russia, voting occurred under extremely coercive conditions, making it impossible for citizens to make free and democratic choices.
