Karachi: Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon has announced the operation of more buses on additional routes in Karachi after Eid.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Sharjeel Memon said that the PPP Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto and President Asif Zardari have directed to focus on improving the transport infrastructure. The number of pink buses in Karachi will also be increased. Green buses have already started operating, and new buses will soon be introduced on the roads. After Eid, two new routes for electric buses will also commence.
The Transport Minister announced the initiation of People’s Bus Service in Mirpurkhas after Eid and the introduction of the card system on 2 routes in Karachi from April 18.
Speaking about the Red Line project, Sharjeel Memon mentioned that due to inflation and price hikes, the work on the Red Line BRT has been affected, as the federal government has not paid attention to the Red Line BRT.
The Transport Minister stated that People’s Bus Service will be launched in every district of Sindh, and 500 new buses will be purchased. It is desired to provide the best and affordable travel facilities to the people for their relief, and all the good news announced for the public will be implemented.
