Islamabad: The Pakistani government is preparing to announce a significant reduction in petrol and diesel prices for the latter half of March 2024, signalling relief for consumers at the pumps.
According to reports, the government is preparing to slash the price of petrol by Rs. 5, bringing it down to Rs274.61 per litre, while diesel may see a reduction of Rs4.81, settling at Rs283.12 per litre. These revised prices are expected to take effect from March 16, 2024.
The potential decrease in petroleum prices aligns with a downward trend observed in the international market. Brent crude futures recently experienced a decline of 0.4%, reaching $81.82 per barrel, indicating a favourable outlook for consumers in Pakistan.
As of the current scenario, the price of petrol stands at Rs279.62 per litre, with high-speed diesel priced at Rs287.33 per litre. Should the anticipated reductions materialize, Pakistani citizens can anticipate relief, with petrol costing Rs274.61 per litre and diesel priced at Rs283.12 per litre.
The official announcement regarding these expected revisions in petrol and diesel prices is awaited on the night of March 15.
