Islamabad: In a recent press conference held in Islamabad, Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert Khorev, expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s steadfast and neutral stance on the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Addressing the media on the 10th anniversary of the “coup d’état” in Ukraine, Ambassador Khorev emphasized the importance of Pakistan and other independent nations maintaining their neutrality and independence in the Moscow-Kyiv conflict.
Ambassador Khorev clarified that there is no confirmation of reports suggesting the supply of arms from Pakistan to Ukraine via third-party countries. He also dismissed reports of Pakistani and Afghan fighters participating in the Russia-Ukraine war.
He commended Pakistan for abstaining from voting on anti-Russia resolutions at the United Nations, attributing it to the country’s commitment to an independent foreign policy.
Responding to queries, Ambassador Khorev stated that Pakistan and Russia are engaged in ongoing consultations to ensure that Pakistani weapons do not reach Ukraine through intermediary channels. He urged all independent nations, including Pakistan, to continue their unbiased approach towards the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
Ambassador Khorev highlighted Russia’s efforts to resolve the conflict through dialogue and negotiation, lamenting Ukraine’s reluctance to engage in meaningful discussions. He emphasized that the resolution of the conflict depends on Ukraine’s sincerity in negotiations and criticized covert activities by the US military in Ukraine.
