Protests Against Alleged Election Rigging Across Pakistan

Quetta, Karachi, Peshawar: A series of protests against alleged election rigging in several cities across the country continue following the controversial results of the general elections.

According to a news agency, Quetta and various regions of Balochistan experienced a shutter-down strike in protest against alleged electoral rigging in the province. Following the appeal by four nationalist political parties, including the Balochistan National Party (BNP), Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), National Party (NP), and Hazara Democratic Party (HDP), jointly called for the strike and demonstrations are being held in front of the Provincial Headquarters in Quetta, as well as other locations.

Throughout Quetta and several cities in Balochistan shops, markets, and businesses remained shut as part of the shutter-down strike. Additionally, protests blocked the national highway in Chaman, Pashin, Loralai, Qila Saifullah, and several other places, disrupting ground communication between Balochistan and other provinces.

Meanwhile, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hayatabad area of Peshawar, a protest against the alleged electoral rigging in the election results was organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, where protesters blocked a bridge. In Bannu also, the PTI staged a sit-in over the alleged electoral rigging of the results of 2 constituencies of the provincial assembly.

Similarly, a protest by the Pakistan Peoples Party in Nasirabad, Sindh, continued for the second consecutive day. Furthermore, protests and demonstrations were held by the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam in Sujawal, Hyderabad, Kandhkot, and Larkana in Sindh.
