Maldives Deports 43 Indian Citizens Among 186 Foreigners

Malé: Maldives has deported 186 foreigners, including 43 Indian citizens, for violating visa regulations, with the highest number of deportees being from Bangladesh.

According to media reports, the Maldivian government has deported at least 83 Bangladeshi nationals, 43 Indians, 25 Sri Lankans, and 8 Nepalese citizens. This deportation occurred after the government took measures to shut down illegal businesses running in the Maldives.

Maldives’ Minister of Interior, Ali Ihusaan, stated that they are taking legal actions against illegal businesses in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs. This includes businesses registered by foreigners engaging in illegal activities. Their businesses will also be shut down, and foreign citizens will be deported from the country, he said.
