Caretaker Govt. Approves Increase in Gas Price on IMF Condition

Islamabad: The caretaker government has approved the increase in the price of gas on the condition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The price of gas will increase for both protected and non-protected consumers, as well as captive power plants.

According to media reports, the approval for the increase in gas prices by the caretaker government includes an increase of Rs. 100 for protected consumers and Rs. 300 for non-protected consumers, while a Rs. 900 per MMBTU increase has been applied for bulk consumers.

In the approval for the increase in gas prices, a Rs. 170 per MMBTU increase has been made for the CNG sector, and the rate of gas for fertilizer factories has also been moderately increased.

The approval for the increase in the price of gas from the Ministry of Finance will be sought from the federal cabinet. The increase in gas prices will be implemented from February 1st.
