Jamaat-e-Islami Refuses Cooperation with PTI in Govt. Formation in KP

Peshawar: Jamaat-e-Islami has refused to cooperate with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in forming the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking to a private TV channel, central deputy chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Liaquat Baloch said that Jamaat-e-Islami has decided not to collaborate with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in forming the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Baloch stated that the discussion with PTI was regarding both federal and provincial governments, but since PTI has formed an alliance with another party at the federal level, there is no justification for an alliance with PTI only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Members of the committee held discussions with PTI leaders Barrister Gohar Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur, Omar Ayub Khan, and Mohammad Azam Khan Swati and exchanged views on the national electoral situation.

On the other hand, PTI leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, speaking to a private TV channel, said that Jamaat-e-Islami did not have any representation in the provincial assembly, which is why there is no justification for forming a government with them now. He added that discussions were ongoing only regarding forming a government with Jamaat-e-Islami in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PTI is considering the legal procedure for forming the government.

It is worth noting that earlier Jamaat-e-Islami leader Liaquat Baloch had confirmed contacts from PTI for government formation and had stated that Jamaat-e-Islami would support PTI if necessary in respect of the public mandate.
