Multiple Explosions Rock Balochistan, Leaving One Dead and Several Injured

Quetta: Tragedy struck Balochistan on Thursday as multiple explosions were reported in various districts, including Quetta, Naseerabad, and Turbat. The incidents resulted in one fatality and several injured, heightening concerns over the security situation in the region just days before the scheduled general elections on February 8.

In the provincial capital Quetta, an explosion occurred in the Spinny Road area, prompting police to cordon off the site and investigate the nature of the blast. Simultaneous explosions were reported in Naseerabad and Turbat districts, leading to injuries.

In Naseerabad, a hand grenade explosion at the Dera Allah Yar Bhatti near Bhatti Phatak left three people injured, while in Turbat’s main market, one person was injured in a grenade blast. Emergency services, including bomb disposal squads and rescue teams, quickly responded to the scenes of the blasts, with the injured promptly transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.

These incidents come amid rising security concerns ahead of the general elections. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has scheduled a meeting to discuss the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan following the recent surge in violence.

Authorities are investigating these incidents to ascertain the motives and bring those responsible to justice. The ECP has requested an immediate report from the chief secretary and Balochistan police chief regarding the multiple explosions.

As political parties intensify their electoral campaigns amidst heightened security measures, concerns over the deteriorating security situation have prompted some lawmakers to call for a delay in the polls. The security situation has been further complicated by recent terrorist attacks, including the shooting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Rehan Khan in Bajur, and a bomb attack on a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally in Sibi that claimed four lives.
