TV Host Ashfaque Satti Faces Legal Action for Alleged Assault on Wife Nomaika

Karachi: Ashfaque Ishaq Satti, a prominent TV host from a private news channel, has been booked for assaulting his wife, Nomaika Ashfaque Satti, in an unfortunate incident reported in Karachi. The case was registered at the North Nazimabad police station based on a complaint filed by his third wife, Nomaika, who took to social media to share her ordeal, accusing Satti of domestic violence.

The complaint against the ARY TV morning show host includes charges under sections 337-A, 506, and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Nomaika Ashfaque Satti revealed the alleged abuse in a Facebook post, posting photos of injuries on her face and arm, claiming to have been “beaten almost to death” by her husband after being picked up from her mother’s house.

In her Facebook post, Nomaika disclosed the gruesome details of the alleged domestic violence stating, “My husband Ashfaque Satti who is a News Anchor & Program host on ARY News picked me up from my mother’s house. Later, he beat me like an animal while character assassinating … He grabbed me from my hair, dragged me across the floor & knocked my head repeatedly against the walls and door.”

“He sat on my chest trying to choke me multiple times. He put the pillow on my face to stop me from breathing. He repeatedly said: “Tumhe Mar Kar Tumhari Laash Gaeb Kar Du Ga.”
“Aaj Tu marray Gi Yaha Mere Hath Sy.”
“He beat me for hours and then locked me in my room. He took away my son ( 1.5 years old). He left me in the dark room badly injured without food and water while I continuously begged for help. I begged for mercy. “Allah Ka Wasta Hai Ashfaq Mujhe Janay Den. Allah Ka wasta Hai Ashfaq Mujhe Chor Den.”
“I begged him & his mother several times. She was also there at home while all of it was happening to me.
I was there for days without water & food. Peeing/Vomiting profusely in pain. I somehow managed to run away after a long struggle.”, she said.

In response to the serious allegations, North Nazimabad Station House Officer (SHO) Farooq Ahmed Sanjrani confirmed the registration of a case based on Nomaika’s complaint. The police cited allegedly suspicions about character as the motive behind the assault, and efforts are underway to apprehend Ashfaque Ishaq Satti, who reportedly fled after the FIR was lodged.

Nomaika’s injuries were initially examined on January 24 at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and later re-examined at her request at the Civil Hospital Karachi, according to Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed. The complete examination revealed injuries and relevant investigations have been recommended, with the victim referred to consultant experts for their opinions.

In response to the allegations, ARY News announced the suspension of Ashfaque Ishaq Satti, emphasizing their “zero-tolerance policy” on violence or threats, whether at the workplace or elsewhere. The news outlet stated that the suspension would remain in effect until the legal process addresses the matter.

The FIR filed by Nomaika outlines disturbing details of the alleged assault, including serious injuries to her left eye, torture marks on her body, and attempts to strangle her. The complainant demanded legal action against her husband, invoking sections 324, 506, 337-A (i), and 337-F (i) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The case reflects the seriousness with which authorities and media organizations are approaching the issue of domestic violence, underscoring the importance of accountability and justice in such cases.

Ashfaque Satti’s Side of the Story:

In response to the allegations leveled against himself, Ashfaque Satti has now shared a video in which he shared his side of the story. In the video message, Satti acknowledged that a fight took place between him and his wife Nomaika but denied the allegations of domestic violence.
He expressed sadness that his personal life problems had become publicized. He defended his reputation, claiming that people are engaging in character assassination, portraying him as an “animal.”
Satti countered the initial allegations by stating that it was, in fact, his wife who had been physically aggressive, and injuries occurred to her when he tried to defend himself.
According to Satti, his personal life, including the existence of his wife Zara Ansari, was known from the start to Nomaika and she had consented to his marriage to Zara, but the situation changed over time, leading to Nomaika demanding Ashfaque to give divorce to Zara.

He emphasized that the media had portrayed a one-sided fabricated narrative and that the complexities of his personal life had been oversimplified. He expressed his trust in the Pakistani judiciary and hoped that he would get justice.

Furthermore, Satti accused Rabia Anum, a colleague, of personal attacks and fabricating information. He claimed that Anum never approached him for his side of the story and accused her of instigating the public against him and his family. Satti said he and his family are receiving death threats. He said he is deeply mentally stressed. He asked, “What if I commit suicide because of the mental pressure? Who would be responsible for it?”. Satti went on to state that if anything untoward happened to his family, Rabia Anum would bear responsibility for inciting people against him and his family.

On the other hand, anchorperson Kiran Naz came out in support of Ashfaque and shared his side of the story on Twitter and posted pictures and videos of the bruises on the body of Ashfaque Satti, allegedly sustained from the physical attack by Nomaika.
