Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan has made the decision to introduce new currency notes in the country.
According to media reports, the State Bank states that there is a significant number of complaints regarding counterfeit notes, leading to the decision to introduce new notes for all denominations. The new currency notes will have international security features.
Governor State Bank Jameel Ahmed stated that the design framework for the new notes has already been started. The new notes will be printed with new serial numbers, designs, and high-security features.
Jameel Ahmed mentioned that the design framework for the new notes has been initiated, and it is expected to be completed by March. He reassured that the transition will not replicate India’s sudden currency change, emphasizing the need to prevent unforeseen disruptions.
The decision is driven by increasing apprehensions about the widespread circulation of counterfeit notes across the country, underscoring the central bank’s dedication to preserving the integrity of Pakistan’s monetary system.
