Rawalpindi: The Official Secrets Act Court has sentenced the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi to 10 years in prison in the Cipher case.
Justice Abu Al-Hasnat Zulqarnain, the judge of the Official Secrets Acts special court, conducted the hearing of the Cipher case against Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where the founder of PTI and Shah Mahmood Qureshi were present.
During the hearing, the judge mentioned that their lawyers were not appearing in the court, because of which the State Defense Council had been appointed to provide state lawyers.
The judge then remarked to the lawyers that they had expressed a lack of confidence in him. Later, the court recorded the statement (342) of Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, in which he stated that the Cipher document had come to his office, but the military secretary was responsible for its security.

During the proceedings, the judge questioned the cipher document’s whereabouts, to which Imran stated that he did not know about it. After recording Imran Khan’s statement (342) and a brief hearing, the court announced the verdict, sentencing Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood to 10 years in prison in the Cipher case.
It is worth noting that before this, Imran Khan had challenged the proceedings of the Cipher case in the Islamabad High Court, questioning the fairness of the government lawyers.

The cipher case revolves around allegations that Imran failed to return a diplomatic document, with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) asserting that the document contained a U.S. threat to oust Imran as prime minister. Former Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, had earlier alleged a conspiracy against his government by the United States to topple his government.
