Peshawar: A fire at the Time Centre Plaza located on Saddar Road in Peshawar has resulted in the burning of over 200 shops, with estimated losses of millions of rupees.
According to Rescue 1122, the fire in the building was brought under 70% control after seven hours. Rescue 1122 reported that four individuals who had gone inside for belongings were trapped but have been successfully rescued. More than 130 firefighters, 26 fire vehicles, 4 water browsers, and 4 ambulances were engaged in the firefighting operation at the Time Centre. Additional fire vehicles and firefighters were requested from Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, and Khyber to extinguish the fire.
Rescue 1122 mentioned that the intensity of the fire increased due to the explosion of batteries, UPS, and mobile accessories in the mobile shopping centre. However, people were successfully evacuated from houses behind the shopping centre.
According to Rescue sources, the fire erupted suddenly around 4 a.m. near Saddar Road in the Time Centre, which conducts business related to mobile accessories. The cause of the fire is not yet known. The fire was so intense that it quickly engulfed the entire plaza.
Rescue sources stated that the fire caused significant damage to mobile batteries, which exploded due to the fire. The fire, not brought under control for seven hours, resulted in the burning of 200 shops, including counters, turning them into ashes. Efforts to bring the fire under control were ongoing as per the latest information.
