Jamaat-e-Islami Announces “Gaza Million March” on Shahrah-e-Faisal on Sunday

Karachi: Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, announced that they would continue their struggle for the rights of the people and the election campaign, and will also express solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestinians. For the expression of solidarity with Palestinian Muslims, a grand and historic “Gaza Solidarity March” will be held at Shahrah-e-Faisal at 3:00 PM on January 14.

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman urged the mothers, sisters, and daughters of Karachi to go door to door and speed up the public communication campaign. He emphasized that the people should vote for Jamaat-e-Islami on February 8, for the development and progress of Karachi, and votes other than those given to Jamaat-e-Islami would only be in favor of landlords and feudal lords.

He also stressed that the helpless Muslims of Gaza and Palestine are resisting Israel’s aggression and terrorism. Over the past 100 days, Israel has been bombing Palestinian Muslims, while countries, including the United States and Britain, and the shameless inept rulers of the Muslim world, continue to support Israel.

The chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi stated that it is the taxes paid by the citizens of Karachi, that keep the country’s economy running. Karachi contributes 42% of the total taxes in the country, 67% of the revenue in the national treasury, and 98% to Sindh’s total budget. Despite this significant contribution, the people of Karachi are not given their legitimate and legal rights.

He further added that in the past, rulers divided the people on linguistic and ethnic bases, to increase their own bank balances. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) usurped the budget of Rs. 312 billion in the name of education but did not even provide education in government schools.

Hafiz Naeem highlighted the skyrocketing fees for higher education in Karachi. He said the fee for the IT degree is more than one lac (100,000) rupees per semester, and the only medical college in Karachi under the municipality, Karachi Medical and Dental College has increased its fees by 150%.
