Islamabad: The Meteorological Department, delivering good news, has stated that a series of rainfall and with that intensified cold weather is expected in Lahore after January 15.
According to Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Islam, there is no possibility of rain in Lahore in the current week. However, a series of rainfall is expected to commence after January 15.
Muhammad Islam further said, the weather will remain cold and dry for the next few days, potentially intensifying the cold in Lahore.
It is noteworthy that on Tuesday, the Punjab government opted to abandon the artificial rainfall initiative due to the unavailability of essential clouds.
Reportedly, two aircraft from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were positioned at Lahore Airport, awaiting approval from the meteorological department to proceed with the artificial rainfall operation. However, the Meteorological Department did not provide the necessary authorization for artificial rainfall, prompting the aircraft to withdraw after a previous unsuccessful attempt at inducing artificial precipitation.
On the other hand, a wave of severe cold is sweeping across the country. Fog is prevalent in the plains, while snowfall has occurred in the mountainous regions. Skardu has experienced a temperature drop to minus eight degrees Celsius. During the last twenty-four hours, due to intense fog and snowfall, the severity of the cold has recorded a further increase in these regions. Snowfall has been reported in the northern areas.
