Govet. to Provide iPhones on Installments from January 12

Islamabad: The caretaker federal government has decided to introduce installment plans for purchasing iPhones starting from January 12.

The caretaker federal Minister for Information Technology, Dr. Umar Saif while outlining the government’s efforts to boost IT and telecom sector exports, revealed that the government has resolved the longstanding demand of freelancers and has entered into an agreement with PayPal, a company operating a digital payment (online transactions) system worldwide. Under this agreement, PayPal will be utilized through a third-party to facilitate the channelization of digital funds transmission in Pakistan.

The Federal Minister for Information Technology announced that 5G technology will be launched in Pakistan in July next year, offering a 300-megahertz spectrum auction.

He further mentioned that the Cabinet has approved the National Space Policy to allow private sector companies to use satellites in low-earth orbit.

Dr. Saif stated that in collaboration with all stakeholders in the telecommunication companies, his ministry will initiate another step from January 12, 2024. Under this initiative, consumers will have access to the latest iPhone models on easy installment plans. A project to introduce iPhones on installments has been formulated.

He added that in case of installment default, the Handset Set Blocking System will be implemented, similar to the systems of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for device identification, registration, and blocking (DIRBS).
