Islamabad: Pakistan’s Senate has approved a resolution to postpone the general elections scheduled for February 8 in the country.
According to details, the Senate’s resolution, put forward by independent Senator Dilawar Khan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cited security concerns and weather as the basis for seeking a delay in the general elections.
Senator Dilawar Khan stated that some regions of the country are experiencing severe cold weather, and political parties have expressed security concerns. He mentioned that leaders of some political parties are facing security threats, and intelligence agencies have issued security alerts regarding attacks on rallies.
Senator Dilawar Khan emphasized that considering the current situation, including the threat of COVID-19, it is advisable to postpone the elections scheduled for February 8.
