During a news briefing, U.S. Department of State spokesperson Matthew Miller said, “We want to see free and fair elections which are conducted in accordance with Pakistan’s laws, and we don’t support one candidate or party over another in Pakistan or anywhere else in the world.”Â
Responding to a question regarding Imran Khan’s allegations that the U.S. wanted to establish military bases in Pakistan, Miller said the allegations made by the founder of PTI are baseless.

He emphasized the U.S. desires to witness elections in Pakistan conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner that includes freedom of expression, peaceful assembly, and association, ensuring a comprehensive, open, reliable, and lively democratic process.
