Rawalpindi: The Punjab Tourism Department and TDCP (Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab) have issued a warning regarding the snowfall season.
According to details, in preparation for the snowfall season, the Tourism Department and TDCP have established facilitation centers at three locations to assist tourists. The staff at these facilitation centers will provide assistance and guidance to tourists.
According to the announcement, these centers are equipped with necessary items, including petrol, to handle emergency situations. Additionally, digital screens have been installed at 7 different locations to provide tourists with essential instructions.
To handle the expected increase in traffic due to tourism, around 150 traffic police officers have been stationed to ensure the seamless flow of traffic. Their main objective is to prioritize the safety and convenience of the tourists visiting the snow-covered destination.
It is worth noting that these precautions are being taken in light of the tragic events of 2022, where 21 lives were lost as heavy snowfall trapped people in their vehicles, resulting in fatalities from hypothermia.
In light of this, the local administration has established a monitoring room to closely oversee and regulate traffic, especially the influx of vehicles entering the hill station.
