Skin Disease Outbreak Erupts Among Israeli Soldiers at Gaza Border

Tel Aviv: An outbreak of skin disease leishmaniasis has erupted among Israeli soldiers wounded in the Gaza conflict.

According to media reports, a significant number of Israeli occupying forces at the Gaza Strip border are now afflicted with a disease called Leishmaniasis. This disease arises from sandfly bites, resulting in the formation of a sore at the site of the wound on the body. It is characterized by persistent itching and repeated scratching exacerbates the sore, causing the disease to spread gradually over the entire body.

An Israeli newspaper reported that dozens of soldiers were diagnosed with skin lesions.

While the treatment for this disease is available, if it spreads rapidly, its management becomes challenging.

A spokesperson for the Israeli military revealed that various measures are being taken across all units of the military to prevent Leishmaniasis. Information documents have been distributed to all soldiers regarding awareness, and measures have been taken to prevent sandfly bites.

He emphasized that in case of suspected symptoms, the affected soldier undergoes an examination by a dermatologist, followed by special care.

It is worth noting that Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smortrich has called for the ethnic cleansing of 2 million Palestinians living in Gaza, stating Palestinians should be forced out of Gaza, making way for Israelis.

It should be noted that since October 7, Israeli aggression has continued, resulting in the death of nearly 22,000 Palestinians,  including 9,100 children and around 6,500 women, and 57,000 individuals severely injured due to relentless bombing by the Zionist Israeli forces.

Furthermore, 70% infrastructure in Gaza has been destroyed in Israeli attacks and over 1.8 million people from the Gaza Strip have been displaced out of its total population of 2.3 million.

Among those martyred in Israeli bombings, there are 311 members of medical staff and 105 journalists. Additionally, 40 personnel from the Civil Defense have also lost their lives.
