DI Khan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police on Sunday reported the incident of firing near vehicles part of the convoy of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, but he remained unharmed as he was absent when the incident took place.
According to media reports, the firing near Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s convoy occurred at Ziark Interchange when vehicles part of the convoy went to the Yarak area for refueling. The firing resulted in minor injuries to an individual in the convoy.
However, in contrast to the initial information, Nasir Mehmood Satti, the Regional Police Officer (RPO) of DI Khan, stated that the JUI-F chief was not the target of the attack, and the convoy had arrived there to refuel the vehicles, emphasizing that JUI-F chief was not present at the location the incident.
According to Satti, the shots were directed towards a police checkpoint.
The convoy was reportedly traveling through Dera Ismail Khan when the incident took place as part of the election campaign. The convoy consisted of approximately three vehicles, and the leadership remained safe.
