Karachi: The electricity consumers of Karachi will now have to bear the brunt of a hefty increase in electricity prices, with a hike of Rs. 1.71.
According to media reports, the decision was issued by the NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) in response to the federal government’s request.
As per the decision, the revised rates will come into effect from January 1st. Karachi consumers will experience the hike from January to March 2023 at 48 paise per unit, and from July to September 2023, a surge of Rs. 1.24 per unit will be implemented.
The increase in prices for Karachi consumers has been made in line with the federal government’s request and is part of the three-month adjustment. The funds generated from this increment will be collcted from consumers of other distribution companies across the country.
